Today it is not possible to stop the spread of coronavirus completely, no matter what measures are being taken, said Anna Popova, the head of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing.

- Today it is not possible to stop the circulation of the virus completely, no matter how isolated and closed the country is. Anyway there is some kind of communication, and it means that there are risks of the renewal and continuation, even if there are no viruses left in the country. Therefore, we learn to live in a new way, we learn to live in conditions when there is a virus”, - said the head of the department on the air of the Russia 24 channel.

She also added that she would have to live in a “balance”, observe all safety precautions, and wait until a medicine or vaccine appeared that would remove the restrictions.

We recall that earlier the head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, said that some quarantine measures would have to be maintained until the moment when a working vaccine against COVID-19 was created.

The head of the department also said that in the event that a population immunity to the virus appears in the country, a second wave of the disease is possible.

In turn, professor of pathophysiology of the First Moscow State Medical University of Sechenov Anton Yershov explained that immunity to coronavirus may not form with a mild or an extremely severe course of the disease. In both cases, the body will not be able to produce the antibodies that are necessary to fight the infection.
