The story of an eyewitness Alexander Isayev, from whom REN TV journalists interviewed, casts doubt on the statements of local officials, who assured that on May 29 they did not yet know about the fuel spill in the rivers. According to him, the "lake of diesel fuel" was visible to the naked eye.

Alexander Isaev’s car drove into the fuel on May 29, which spilled in the area of the Nornickel metallurgical plant in the territory of the thermal power plant after the tank was depressurized with diesel and then a fire broke out over an area of 350 square meters.

“Arrived at the place 30 minutes after I was informed about the incident by the Step organization employees who rented this car from me. There was a car there and was on fire. They didn’t let me close because the road was blocked. As far as possible, 300 meters we approached it was clear that the car is burning, fire hoses with deploying tank farm 20 minutes later they filed a lather and started to extinguish the fire", - told the television channel REN TV Alexander Isayev.

At the emergency site, he immediately saw a lake from diesel fuel. According to him, the employees of Norilsk Nickel could not fail to notice the fuel spill.

"There was a bit of diesel fuel around. There was a ravine on the left. There was a lot there. Like a lake. In principle, everyone saw. The Nornickel security car went right there. They stood there, everything was visible there", said an eyewitness.

"So the tank farm area looks burned cars on the road is worth, drove into a pool with a sun deck and lit up Here comes the oil spill..", - said Isayev video he made of the scene.

The channel notes that the eyewitness account does not match the statements of local officials. According to Anatoly Tsykalov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, local authorities did not notice the leak of more than 20 thousand tons of fuel in the region of TPP-3 in Norilsk. Answering the corresponding question, Tsykalov said that the conclusion would be made by "competent employees, employees who are investigating this event".

"But the nature of the damage, which has arisen on the tank as a result of settling of the foundation - and the company's representatives, and witnesses say that the fuel exit process was extremely short, perhaps for hours, even less," - he said.

An environmental disaster in the polar Norilsk occurred on May 29. As a result of the spill of oil products at TPP-3 of the Norilsk-Taimyr energy company, which is part of Norilsk Nickel, more than 20 thousand cubic meters of diesel fuel fell into the Daldykan and Amburka rivers. The foundation piles sank, as a result of which the tank with diesel fuel was depressurized. a car drove into the place of a fuel spill, which caused a fire. Soon from the fuel that got into the surrounding water bodies, the water in them turned red. No less, the employees of the TPP did not report the emergency, trying to fix the leak on their own.

According to the statement of the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss, the regional authorities did not react to the situation on the day of the disaster, but only on May 31st.

On June 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an emergency mode at the federal level and was outraged by the fact that the head of the company did not report the oil spill in a timely manner, and the authorities only knew about the dangerous situation from social networks.

The investigation of criminal cases instituted on the fact of the incident will be handled by the GU Investigative Committee of Russia. Cases were filed under the articles "Land Damage", "Violation of environmental protection rules in the course of work", "Water Pollution".
