Death on duty: In Belarus, 103 medical workers died because of coronavirus

This is reported by the Tut.by portal with reference to the post of Doctor of Medical Sciences Svetlana Sorokina on Facebook, which lists the names of the deceased. Now this post is not available for all users of the social network - perhaps the author deleted it.

Sorokina told the Belarusian newspaper that she began collecting a list of colleagues who died from coronavirus back in April. “Today we know about the names of 103 deceased doctors who have contracted the coronavirus. Although it is clear that this is not all”, - she said.

Sorokina's list includes physicians from different cities of Belarus who worked not only in central regional and city hospitals, but also at ambulance stations, laboratories, epidemiology centers, medical centers and sanatoriums. Among the dead there are the names of the heads of medical institutions.

Most of the victims were over 50 years old. However, among the dead there are those who were about 40 years old. These are specialists of different profiles.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Belarus, 1,461 people have died from the coronavirus. That is, doctors account for 7% of the total number of deaths.
