Aeroflot offered to charge passengers for registration

Aeroflot proposed to introduce paid check-in at airports. The corresponding letter was sent by the carrier to the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. The company proposes to exclude the cost of the registration service from the ticket price.

According to Izvestia, Aeroflot representative Mikhail Demin indicated that today the tariff includes check-in at the airport counter, but most passengers use online check-in. If you exclude the cost of the service from the price of the boarding pass, then the fare can be reduced, which will give you the opportunity to choose between online check-in and registration at the airport, which must be paid.

"For passengers of the discounter (Pobeda, a subsidiary of Aeroflot), it is important to reduce the fare for transportation by even 150 rubles for those who check in online - this is fully consistent with world practice. For full-service companies such as Aeroflot, registration at the counter is part of the usual service cycle, for them the initiative is irrelevant", - said Demin.

The initiative has already been considered by the Federal Air Transport Agency. The department pointed to the social risks of this measure. The Ministry of Transport has not yet made any decision on the carrier's proposal.

We would like to remind that earlier Aeroflot offered to change the conditions of the flight without the consent of the passenger himself. The company sent a letter to the Association of Air Transport Operators, in which it described the proposal for a new tariff, according to which the carrier is entitled to independently transfer passengers to an earlier or later flight. At the same time, the company offered to pay compensation for such sudden changes only under certain conditions. The Association replied that behind Aeroflot's initiative there is a veiled legalization of overbooking - when the company sells more tickets than seats in the cabin.

Earlier, the Union of Passengers assessed as "unfair" Aeroflot's proposal to reduce the amount of baggage carried free of charge.
