The initiative of retailers to limit a number of goods to one hand was supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to representatives of departments, in connection with the establishment of a minimum margin for these products, there were cases of purchasing goods in large volumes for subsequent resale.

Thus, the Ministry of Industry and Trade indicated that in some Russian regions there were cases when such goods were “acquired at a time in an obviously larger volume than necessary for private consumption (up to several tons) for subsequent resale”.

The ministry decided to limit the sale so as not to violate the "logic of decisions developed by food retailers and authorities and to ensure that citizens are guaranteed the opportunity to purchase affordable products", - Kommersant writes.

Retailers will independently determine which products to impose restrictions on. They will do this within the framework of the Association of Retail Companies and the Union of Independent Networks of Russia.

Earlier it became known that the Auchan retail chain recommended a number of its stores to limit the sale of such products when retailing in one hand. However, the company assured that the deficit of socially significant goods in Auchan is not predicted.
