A petition is gaining momentum on the Vkontakte social network, the authors of which proposed to abandon New Year's spending: Christmas trees, decorations, etc., and use the saved funds to support the mobilized.

“The authorities are allocating huge amounts of money to decorate the city during the New Year holidays, but many people do not support such spending. Let's support our guys who are protecting us during this period and try to use these funds to support them”, - writes the author of the petition, a resident of Voronezh.

Since September 28, the petition on the Vkontakte platform has gained more than 470,000 signatures. In addition, the service has another similar petition, which has gathered more than 50 thousand supporters.

Note that the topic of New Year's decoration of cities has really become an annoying factor. According to Novye Izvestia, in Chelyabinsk the authorities allocated 400 million rubles for illumination, 200 of them have already been announced for auction. With this money, a multi-meter light tunnel and art objects will appear on a pedestrian street in the city center. But residents and deputies in social networks indicate that a national collection of sleeping bags for mobilized South Urals residents has been announced in the region, and free money could be used to equip drafted citizens. To this, the authorities replied that the money was targeted and it was impossible to spend it on something other than a holiday.
