The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation commented on the situation with Russian women Maria Dapirka (pictured) and Maria Lazareva, who were charged in eastern countries.

Novye Izvestia has repeatedly written about the fate of the Russian woman Maria Lazareva, sentenced to hard labor in Kuwait on trumped-up charges of “embezzlement”. It was also said that the help of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who personally called the Emir of Kuwait, helped her to get out of prison last year. But four months later, Lazarev was again sentenced to 15 years in hard labor. Lazareva had to seek refuge at the Russian embassy in Kuwait.

"The Russian Foreign Ministry continues to actively deal with the fate of the citizen of the Russian Federation Maria Lazareva, who was previously sentenced in Kuwait to long imprisonment and the payment of large monetary compensation on charges of financial abuse", - the department told Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Earlier, on October 12, a Kuwaiti court passed a conviction against Lazareva in the third criminal case, despite the fact that she had previously been acquitted.

"We will continue to keep the "Lazareva case" in the field of constant attention, providing her with the necessary consular assistance. In this regard, our priority remains to ensure an objective and fair judicial review of the charges brought against Maria, to end her criminal prosecution, as well as to remove restrictions from a Russian woman on leaving Kuwait and returning to her homeland", - the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Another Russian woman who was imprisoned abroad is Maria Dapirka. In 2014, she was arrested in Vietnam with a consignment of cocaine weighing over 2 kg. While working as a guide in Southeast Asia, she met Chib Eze, a native of Nigeria, and was planning to marry him. But the friend, according to the version of the girl's relatives, used her for international smuggling - he sent her to visit his homeland, but he himself promised to arrive later. As a result, the Rostovite woman was arrested at the Vietnam airport with a double bottom suitcase where the drug was hidden. The Negyrian could not be found. A court in Vietnam sentenced a Russian woman to life imprisonment.

"Employees of the Consulate General regularly visit a Russian citizen, assist her in receiving letters and parcels from Russia. The state of health of the Russian woman does not cause concern. Now the pandemic visit coronavirus prisoners suspended", - told the Russian Foreign Ministry.

They also noted that the authorized departments of Russia and Vietnam "are considering the issue of transferring Maria Dapirka to serve a sentence in Russia (within the framework of the current agreement between the Russian Federation and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the transfer of persons sentenced to imprisonment)".
