Kommersant: three generals of the Ministry of Internal Affairs became defendants in a criminal case

According to Kommersant, in the apartments and offices of the assistant to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant General Sergei Umnov , the head of the traffic police of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, Major General Alexei Semenov , and retired Major General Ivan Abakumov. The investigative-operational groups of the Investigative Committee and department "M" of the FSB of Russia were looking for documents and items prohibited for circulation.

All the defendants in the case under the article “Abuse of official authority” allegedly persistently recommended that businessmen donate money to the “Fund for Assistance to the Programs of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region”. At the same time, the funds received were spent uncontrollably on various police activities, investigators are sure, and donors received certain preferences.
