Apart from million-plus cities, demand for housing in the Russian regions turned out to be 50% lower than last year, said Nikita Stasishin, deputy head of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities.

- The main difficulty for developers today is demand. In the regions, excluding million-plus cities, demand is recovering, but not as fast as desired, and is at a level lower by 50% than last year. Those who say that everything is fine, let them go to Ulyanovsk, Kostroma, Novgorod and see the real picture, - Stasishin told a RIA Novosti correspondent during the Eastern Economic Forum.

In the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, as well as in large cities, the situation is stabilizing, but still does not reach the level of 2021. The problem can be solved by lowering the price per square meter of housing. In addition, mortgage programs should be made more accessible.

To date, in the structure of the debts of Russians, mortgages for the first time exceeded the share of 51%. By the end of the year, experts expect to see an increase of up to 53% - up to 12.9 trillion rubles. At the same time, at least 40% of families in the Russian Federation cannot even get a preferential mortgage.
