Onishchenko stated that the coronavirus already "fizzles out" and people "must work"
The first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science, the former head of Rospotrebnadzor Gennady Onishchenko said that the coronavirus began to "run out of steam", and advised to finally turn to the economy.
“The virus is already running out of steam, because in all countries where there were strong outbreaks, the spread of the coronavirus has already been taken under control and we don’t see new countries that would say that their situation has got out of control”, - Onishchenko said on NSN air.
He also emphasized that there is no need to tighten quarantine measures, because even under the quarantine conditions “the economy must work and people must work as well”.
Speaking about the experience of different countries, Onishchenko recalled that Russia has its own way of developing the situation with the epidemic, but the country, nevertheless, relies on international experience.
- We always study the international situation and extrapolate it to our realities, but do not copy. Because coronavirus makes adjustments for our regional characteristics and, as statistics show, today we have different levels of infection prevalence everywhere, ”the deputy said.
We recall that the current head of Rospotrebnador (The Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) Anna Popova, in her turn, spoke about the three stages of lifting quarantine restrictions in Russia. The final decision on mitigation will be made by the heads of regions.
On May 6, the daily increase in the detected cases of COVID-19 in Russia exceeded 10 thousand. According to Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, the country has not yet reached a plateau of the incidence.
