60% of Russian doctors consider the death statistics for coronavirus underestimated

The results of the study are given by Vedomosti.

49% of respondents said that statistics on sick people are underestimated, and 47% believe that statistics on deaths are underestimated. Of the doctors working with patients who have identified COVID-19, 54% do not believe in the truth of the official figures.

9% of respondents believe that in Russia there are fewer cases of new coronavirus infection, in fact, than is indicated in official statistics. 11% share this opinion regarding mortality rates.

As for the state’s actions to fight the infection, the majority - 64% - admitted that at least something is being done, this is still not enough. At the same time, the provision of assistance to patients and the training of medical workers is highly estimated - 29% of the respondents said that everything necessary was done in this part.

44% believe that "practically nothing has been done" in order to provide an adequate burden on physicians.

Let us recall that the head of the Federal State Statistics Service Pavel Malkov explained why the data from the agency and the operational headquarters on mortality from coronavirus in April do not agree. According to him, the fact is that a different methodology is used.

Earlier, the head of the WHO program, Michael Ryan, called the Russian statistics on mortality from covid earlier “difficult to understand”. However, the WHO said that the organization has no claims to the Russian Federation on death statistics from COVID-19.
