Oryol divers walked with portraits of veterans along the bottom of Oka river

This event took place in the framework of the Immortal Regiment in the Sky, on the Earth and Under Water action.

According to the website of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies for Oryol Region , on the eve of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, members of the Oryol regional department of the All-Russian student rescue corps and employees of the regional search and rescue service joined their efforts for this action.

Since in the current epidemiological situation mass rallies are not planned for the present day, it was decided to honor the memory of the heroes in such an unusual way. Portraits of veterans were laminated so that they were not damaged by water. The time of the action was specially chosen between the diver's day and Victory Day.

On the shore of the divers, members of the regional branch of the All-Russian student rescue corps met, who also held photographs of their relatives, veterans, ” said Dozhd TV channel .

The procession of the "Immortal Regiment", which has already become traditional in recent years, will be held online this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Almost two million Russians have already joined the project. The broadcast will begin on May 9 from 11:00 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and will last even more than one day until each veteran is shown whose photos the Russians will send. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin rescheduled the parade on Victory Day, noting that the parade itself and the procession of the "Immortal Regiment" in their usual form will certainly take place later.
