The press service of Roszdravnadzor commented on reports of a shortage of drugs based on amoxicillin in pharmacies. The department said that there is no shortage of such drugs in Russia, and they are on sale.

“Roszdravnadzor, together with the Ministry of Health of Russia, controls the situation with the provision of medicines to citizens and the actual availability of certain groups of medicines. So, according to the websites of large pharmacy chains, there is a wide range of drugs [based on amoxicillin] available for free sale, ”the Roszdravnadzor said (quote from TASS).

The department added that in 2022, more than 16.7 million packages of drugs based on amoxicillin entered the civil circulation, including 13 million of domestic production. Roszdravnadzor clarified that at the moment there are more than 14.8 million packages of such drugs in civilian circulation. The press service reminded that the use of antibiotics is possible only on prescription.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced a shortage of the Amoxiclav antibiotic in Moscow pharmacies. Later, the department promised that the situation with the drug would soon normalize, and also indicated the presence of analogues.

“Currently, there is an increased demand for this drug for various reasons: this is both a seasonal rise in the incidence of infectious diseases, and the purchase of the drug in pharmacies by citizens “in reserve” (despite the fact that the drug is prescription).<…> Taking into account the completion of measures to partial mobilization, as well as with the entry of new domestic manufacturers to the market, it is predicted that in the near future, failures in the provision of the pharmacy network will stop, ”the Ministry of Industry and Trade explained (quoted by TASS).
