Glukhovsky is drowned for his "Swampland": Chechen bloggers threaten the writer with reprisals

Chechen bloggers, dissatisfied with the series "Topi" ("Swampland"), the script for which was written by the writer Dmitry Glukhovsky, published his address and phone number on the Web and called for reprisals against him.

A few days ago, Russian media reported about a scandal that erupted on social networks in connection with the series directed by Vladimir Mirzoyev, scripted by writer Dmitry Glukhovsky "Topi" ("Swampland"). Several Chechen telegram channels at once posted Glukhovsky's passport data on the Internet with threats: bloggers urge to bring him to account for the plot of a series in which a girl from Chechnya does not want to obey traditional rules.

“Home address on the screen. Work, brothers! Send to Chechen publics. And you Dimasya - look around you, evil spirits”, - says one of the messages.

It's worth reminding that Dmitry Glukhovsky is a Russian writer, journalist, screenwriter, radio host and war correspondent. He became widely known after the release of the novel Metro 2033. The premiere of the "Topi" ("Swampland") series took place at the end of January 2021 on the KinoPoisk HD Internet platform.

According to the plot of the series, a girl living in a big city refuses to obey the traditional Caucasian rules and starts a relationship with a Russian man, but she is pursued by a Chechen groom, for whom her family has married her against her will. The series shows bed scenes with the participation of the heroine of the actress Sofia Volodchinskaya.

Therefore, the actress has faced harassment on the web: public servers in "Vkontakte" began appearing positions calling for the persecution of Volodchinskoy:

Her heroine in the TV series" "Topi" ("Swampland")"insults the honor of the Chechen nation and Chechen woman. In this series, one Russian actress (Volodchinskaya Sofya Isaakovna) plays the role of a Chechen woman, where she behaves immorally, please spread this news to all social networks (...) It will not be superfluous to write to them in the personal messages".

The director of the series, Vladimir Mirzoyev, said in his commentary that the Chechens' claims to the actress are absurd, since she is not playing a Chechen woman, but a girl with a Dagestani background:

“Sorry, the film has a Dagestan producer. What else can be discussed here? There will always be people who want to wind up something and distort reality..."

However, there is another version of the appearance of such posts. For example, the head of the Union of Chechen Youth, Rustam Tapayev, suggests that threats against Glukhovsky may be part of the series' PR campaign. and offensive messages appear.

In this regard, journalist Alexey Naryshkin asks the following question:

I wonder if actors, directors, show business will intercede for Glukhovsky as actively as in the case of actor Ustinov (actor Pavel Ustinov was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison on charges of using violence against a riot policeman at an uncoordinated rally 3 August 2019 in the center of Moscow. Then, under pressure from the theatrical community, the court changed the sentence to 1 year suspended, - ed.) after the rallies? Here, the story is even more obvious than with the Ustinov criminal case, but it is unlikely that there will be anyone willing to drown for the artist's right, and this is all with the prospect of becoming a target themselves. Or will there be? "Topi" ("Swampland") is a good show. Glukhovsky and anyone else in his place clearly do not deserve harassment and threats..."

The series "Topi" ("Swampland") caused an ambiguous audience reaction. So, the writer Alina Vitukhnovskaya wrote after his appearance on the screen:

There were those who were dissatisfied with the TV series “Topi” ("Swampland"). Strange people. What did you want? Have a good movie? Good Russian cinema is an oxymoron. In fact, "Topi" absolutely accurately reflects the current reality. In fact, documentary films about the RF-II. Glukhovsky - Mamleyev during Putinism..."
