The growth of COVID-19 infections was explained by the carelessness of residents

As reported in Rospotrebnadzor, in recent days in Russia, the number of cases of COVID-19 has crawled up. Over the past day, 10,407 new cases were identified. This is the maximum since March 7, when 10,253 people became infected. The total number of infected reached 5,156,250. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said that the authorities would not introduce a new lockdown, despite the increase in infections.

“It is wrong to conclude that we are on the verge of a new upsurge. But now many continue to ignore precautions, do not realize the need for vaccination and this contributes to the circulation of the virus among the population", - Kommersant quotes the words of Natalia Pshenichnaya, Deputy Director for Clinical and Analytical Work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor (Russian Federal State Agency for Health and Consumer Rights).

According to the epidemiologist, another reason is that those who have been ill with COVID-19 are losing their immunity, and those who have not yet been ill are "not very actively vaccinated".

“This makes us time to achieve herd immunity”, - Pshenichnaya said.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, from time to time, there will be certain increases in the incidence of diseases. The department considers such fluctuations "quite understandable and natural for the stabilization process". Meanwhile, doctors dream not so much about "stabilization" as about a decrease in the activity of the epidemic. According to Pshenichnaya, this process directly depends on people's behavior.

Earlier it was reported that by the fall, the authorities hope to vaccinate up to 60% of the country's population. However, so far the rate of vaccination is extremely low. They are, on average, three times lower than those in Europe and the United States, despite the fact that Russia was the first in the world to register its covid vaccine and actively offers citizens to get free vaccinations.

To change the situation with the pace of the vaccination campaign, the city authorities decided to form mobile medical teams who will vaccinate people right at work at the request of enterprise managers.

On the eve of the State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill on the introduction of vaccination against coronavirus in the National Vaccination Calendar. This will allow the regions to purchase vaccines from the federal budget. At the same time, there are fears that the amendments will make the procedure mandatory for public sector employees. At the same time, not all citizens can be administered the covid vaccine: it has contraindications.
