In Russia, about 21.5 million people have been vaccinated against coronavirus. This was announced by the President of the country Vladimir Putin, reports TASS. According to the head of state, the situation with COVID-19 is stable.

“The [vaccination] results are very good across the country. I would like to encourage people to waste no time getting vaccinated. And at the first symptoms, go to the doctor, and not wait for the disease to develop”, - Putin said, answering journalists' questions.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that good rates of vaccination would soon make it possible to lift restrictions on coronavirus. However, she noted that April and May are difficult months for the incidence of seasonal infections. As of April 16, 8 million Russians were known to be vaccinated.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 4.8 million cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in Russia. The number of deaths exceeds 113.6 thousand. Putin also called his coronavirus vaccination successful.
