The four-meter table at the talks in the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and French leader Emmanuel Macron is explained by the latter's refusal to undergo PCR testing for coronavirus. Macron's security service was afraid that Russia would get a sample of his DNA.

This is reported by Reuters, citing sources close to the President of France.

As the interlocutors of the agency pointed out, if Macron had passed the test, the distance could have been reduced and, moreover, they could have shaken hands with Putin, but the French leader’s security service was against it.

- We could not accept the fact that Russia would get its hands on the president's DNA, - said in the service.

In addition, Macron passed the test before flying to the Russian capital.

Note that the long table, on both sides of which the presidents were sitting, immediately gave rise to many memes among netizens.

The talks between the leaders of the two countries took place on February 8. They lasted over five hours. The meeting discussed the escalation on the Russian-Ukrainian border, security issues in Europe, NATO policy. After meeting with Putin, Macron flew to Kiev for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to Macron, the main goal of the negotiations was achieved, and his visit to Moscow prevented a further escalation of the situation around Ukraine.
