The Prosecutor General’s Office approved the indictment in the case of the Khachaturian sisters accused of killing his father. In the near future, the department will send the case to court.
- The Prosecutor General’s Office approved the criminal charges against the Khachaturian sisters. Signed by the Deputy Prosecutor General Grin, who in December 2019 returned the case instructing the Investigative Committee to re-qualify the actions of the sisters in connection with being in a state of necessary defense. Obviously, something has changed in his position during this time. Now we await receipt of cases in court and appointment of a preliminary hearing - resulting TASS words of one lawyer of the accused Alexei Liptser.
Recall that at the end of last year, the Prosecutor General's Office returned materials to the UK regarding the Khachaturian sisters, refusing to refer cases to court. The lawyer noted that after the case returned to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, then according to it, "nothing really changed in favor of the position of the investigation, just the opposite".
Defender of the younger sister Khachaturian Yaroslav Pakulin said that the case of her sisters will be considered in the Moscow City Court, and his client - in Butyrsky.
According to the agency’s source, if the Prosecutor General’s office approves the indictment and directs the case to court, the process will be closed - neither listeners nor media representatives will be allowed to attend. This is due to the fact that the state prosecution intends to submit a petition, since the case materials repeatedly mention the bullying and violence of the father over his daughters. The case of the younger sister will also be considered behind closed doors if a decision on the appointment of medical measures is approved.
According to prosecutors, the actions of the sisters should be retrained as a defense, not a murder. Previously, such a defense was also declared by the defense. Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Viktor Grin refused to confirm the indictment, since the conclusions of the investigation did not correspond to the actual circumstances of the incident.
Recall that in the summer of 2018, 18-year-old Angelina, 19-year-old Krestina and 17-year-old Maria Khachaturian killed their 57-year-old father, Mikhail Khachaturian. Girls were subjected to repeated sexual and physical violence, did not go to school.
