Consumers Union predicted an increase in food prices

- The only major price limitation today is consumer demand. But, as always, the most expensive products are those that are called inelastic, the prices of which are inelastic in demand. No matter how you raise the price, people will still buy them, because there is nothing to replace them, - he said in an interview with Vechernaya Moskva.

Now, said the chairman of the Union of Consumers, there is an increase in prices for seasonal products, but soon the situation will change in favor of buyers. At the same time, the decline in food prices will be only short-term, and year to year they still grow in price. To solve the problem, it is necessary, according to the expert, to increase the supply and "not be closed from competition with imports."

We would like to remind that earlier the producers of fish food and preserves notified the retail chains of a 5-15% price increase due to the increase in the cost of raw materials, packaging and freight.

Note that in early July, consumer price inflation rose by half. At the end of June, the rise in price accelerated from 6% to 6.5% and became the maximum since 2016.
