The cost of an OSAGO policy for emergency drivers in Russia will become higher from September 13 due to an increase in the price of spare parts. The base fare corridor is expanding by 26% in both directions so that insurers can take into account the individual risks of drivers.

According to RIA Novosti, referring to the statement of the Central Bank, for cars owned by individuals, the base rate of the tariff will be set by insurers for each driver in the range of 1646-7535 rubles. For public transport, the corridor expands by 17.8% in both directions. Based on the latest data, the calculation of territorial coefficients has been refined.

By lowering the lower limit of the corridor, insurers will be able to offer drivers with lower risks more favorable conditions. The rise in the price of spare parts will affect the cost of policies for high-risk policyholders to a greater extent. The regulator hopes that this will help curb the rise in OSAGO prices, as the opportunities for differentiating its cost for each driver will increase.

At the beginning of the month, an increase in the price of policies was announced. The corresponding instruction has already been registered by the Ministry of Justice. This is not the first time that the decision to expand the price band for greater individualization of prices has been made. So, in September 2020, the corridor was expanded by 10% in both directions.
