Suspension of flights with Turkey raised prices for domestic Russian tours

Currently, foreign destinations are at least one and a half times more expensive than tours to Turkey before the closure of flights, said Maya Lomidze, executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia.

At the same time, the average cost of tours within the country during the last month cost about 46 thousand rubles, but for the summer period it rose to 78 thousand rubles. This was announced to Kommersant by Dmitry Malyutin, co-founder of Level.Travel. After the authorities imposed restrictions on air traffic with Turkey, the price of accommodation in hotels in Russian resorts during the May holidays increased by 15-20%.

The demand for flights to Jordan and Tunisia has doubled or more, and Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Cyprus - by more than 90%. Also, the demand has grown for tickets to other countries that have open air links with Russia.

The Association of Tour Operators said that at the closure of flights with Turkey, losses amounted to 354.6 million euros.

In Crimea, they are already looking forward to high earnings on tourists who are forced to abandon the Turkish holiday. Senator of the Federation Council of Russia from the Republic of Crimea Sergei Tsekov assessed the possibility of the peninsula to host all comers for recreation during the May holidays and during summer vacations against the backdrop of the closure of Turkey for Russians.
