Every tenth Russian has faced discrimination in the process of looking for a job. This is the conclusion reached by the specialists of the research center of the service "Zarplata.ru". At the same time, according to the legislation, employers cannot establish restrictions for job seekers.

Thus, 12% of Russians reported that they faced discrimination from employers. Moreover, women are more likely than men - 61% versus 39%. In most cases, job seekers were refused work because of their age (49%), appearance (16%) and nationality (7%).

Most often, age discrimination was faced by Russians aged 35-55. According to external requirements, job seekers often do not suit employers in the service, hospitality and culture sectors. And nationality makes it difficult to find a job in the civil service, as well as in medical and educational institutions.

At the same time, personnel officers began to pay less attention to the availability of higher education among applicants. According to the survey, 31% of employers do not care about a diploma, but experience and skills.

The survey on discrimination in employment was conducted on August 20-24, 2021 in all regions of Russia. It was attended by 2,047 people from among the clients of "Zarplata.ru" aged 18 to 55 years.
