Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees on conferring the honorary title "City of Military Glory" on Mariupol and Melitopol.

The relevant presidential decrees on conferring the title "City of Military Glory" to Mariupol and Melitopol are posted on the official Internet portal of legal information. According to the text of the document, the titles were conferred "for the courage, steadfastness and mass heroism shown by the defenders of the city in the struggle for the freedom and independence of the Fatherland".

In addition, nine cities were awarded the honorary title of "City of Labor Valor". Among them: Astrakhan, Vologda, Gorlovka, Zlatoust, Kaspiysk, Lugansk, Norilsk, Orsk, Yakutsk. According to the text of the decree, the reason for conferring the honorary title was "the significant contribution of city dwellers in achieving Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, ensuring the uninterrupted production of military and civilian products at industrial enterprises, while displaying mass heroism and dedication".
