"Now we are determining the spectrum of strains that circulate in Moscow - and there is already more than one Wuhan strain, there is also a modified Indian one. We are now studying the epidemiological effectiveness of "Sputnik V" to these strains”, - said Gintsburg.

At the same time, the Sputnik V vaccine is effective against the Indian strain, as evidenced by laboratory tests. According to Gintsburg, in the case of "Sputnik V", "there is a decrease in the effectiveness of 1.4-2.4 times in comparison with the serum obtained from the Wuhan strains," which is "not at all critical". Gintsburg noted that "Sputnik V" creates a significant reserve for the concentration of antibodies. After vaccination, "the person will be protected from the Indian strain".
