During a meeting with the heads of the State Duma factions, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he considered it possible to consider the idea of introducing food certificates. The head of state noted that today this issue is not as relevant as in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, but "you can talk".

"Food certificates - we have already discussed this, and I instructed the government to talk about this topic. There are pluses, there are certain problematic issues that need to be resolved. But you can definitely think about it completely. In my opinion, now it may not be as relevant as it was at the height of the epidemic. But nevertheless, you can talk", - said the president.

Earlier, the Accounts Chamber proposed introducing food cards for low-income Russians. According to the head of the department of the joint venture Olga Samarina, such a certificate could allow families to decide on their own which products to purchase.

It's worth reminding that ration cards and social meals for the poor in December 2020 were also proposed by members of the Public Chamber. According to the head of the commission of the Public Chamber for the development of the agro-industrial complex Yulia Ogloblina, such a measure is necessary in the country today.
