Despite the apparent violation by the state of basic human rights, not all citizens of the country condemned the installation of cameras with face recognition in schools.

Citizens of the country reacted very interestingly to the message that cameras will be installed in all Russian schools with face recognition.

Expected against this initiative acted as a public figure Alyona Popova:

“From the childhood they decided to accustom Russian children to the constant surveillance. More than 2 billion rubles have already been allocated for these purposes. The state did not hide its true intentions and called this system simply - Orwell. That is, officials expressly declare their desire to create a digital concentration camp in the country.

From birth, Russians should get used to total surveillance and control by the state. So that later, when they grow up, they do not resent and perceive such systems as given.

Needless to say, cameras with face recognition function are not related to school security. You can recall all the latest cases of attacks on schools. They were made by the students themselves. For the safety of schools, you need to work with the students themselves, help them cope with psychological disorders, and prevent conflicts and bullying.

Russian schools are only part of the system. Face recognition cameras are now installed in the entrances and on the streets of many Russian cities. In Moscow alone, one of the world's largest face recognition systems is being created, including more than 200,000 surveillance cameras. Therefore, we filed a lawsuit against the metropolitan administration in order to ban the use of such cameras. After all, our state will not calm down until it covers the whole country with these cameras.

Officials consider us a herd, which must be constantly monitored and controlled. Every year they increasingly violate our right to privacy. At the same time, they do everything possible so that the data about them is kept secret. But if total surveillance should be organized, then in the opposite direction - only in relation to our officials. They are doing too much damage to our society now..."

The lawyer Alexei Fedyarov has witty praised this measure:

“Contractor - National Center for Informatization (part of the Rostec Group of Companies). The amount of contracts exceeds 2 billion rubles. The video surveillance system is called Orwell, and it is not only beautiful, but honestly and on time.

Take, for example, a Chuvash child from the village of Shumerlya, where I was born and raised. He wakes up on a snowy winter morning and goes to school. In the one that I went in the eighties. Another was not built. Impatient for a student after a second, say, lesson in the toilet. He goes into the schoolyard and runs through the blizzard into the toilet, which I ran into. And they didn’t build another one. Not required, this one is still strong. We didn’t build an assembly hall and gyms; there, out of entertainment, there was only the military commander’s office and two old training kalashas. But the machine yes, everyone knows how to disassemble quickly. And collect. But it is not important. A schoolboy sits above a round hole in the toilet floor and poops. Then he gets up, looks at the stalagmites under the holes in the floor. From scientific interest, he looks - stalagmites are growing, I wonder what they will grow by spring - and runs back to class. At the entrance, the Orwell video surveillance system identifies the student and skips. How good, the Chuvash child thinks that the state takes care of me and the safety of the learning process. Then the teacher comes down. And for teachers in the outhouse there is a separate compartment with the letter “U” on it. And the teacher "Orwell" will let back..."

Many bloggers responded in much the same way:

- That's what money is spent on. But there aren’t enough for hospitals, there is no money for lunch for ambulance doctors either, they plow for 12 hours without food. In hospitals, torn linen is given out. And the money was found for surveillance.

- In one school in Yalta, where I worked a little in the last school year, many high school students do not even have smartphones. No Orwell will help here. And Zoom doesn't work either. Sanctions. A caring state came to us and "saved".

- This Orwell had to be crucified during his lifetime with his these “creative” ideas, which officials now use, and the authors don’t pay, since it has been exactly 70 years since the author’s death....

However, and this is not at all surprising for Russia, the state initiative at our expense found many supporters, perhaps even that they did not yield to the opponents in number:

- I do not care, let them watch. I am a law-abiding person. I’m not doing anything wrong. And in schools now, indeed, such wild cases do happen ... Children attack the teachers, then vice versa. Video monitoring is a necessary thing in a country where people take benches and litter bins from parks to their gardens.

- I don't mind. At least the questions of who started the conflict, who took the bag, or who stole the item will no longer be. In our corridors, in some places, cameras and recordings of what happened a couple of times helped in disputes with the mothers of the holy children, convinced that their Petya went to ballet, he certainly could not, and those who had come from the aul were to blame...

- I am also very much in favor. In China, everything is in the cells and there are no attacks. 24 hours a day you can safely walk. And we have impunity. There are no cameras. No one can be punished for hitting a child, for robbery. So for sure. They will think before doing.
