Roskomnadzor announced the unblocking of Telegram

Its creator Pavel Durov noted that it is impossible to block his brainchild.

Earlier on June 15, the deputies from Just Russia Fedot Tumusov, Dmitry Ionin and Alexander Terentyev submitted to the State Duma a bill to end the blocking of Telegram. Deputies noted that the messenger, despite all attempts, was not only not blocked, but has recently become the "official service" of many state bodies through which they disseminate, including important information about the fight against coronavirus, and unsuccessful attempts to block only inflicted "damage to the prestige of state power".

Own, moreover, rather successful and visited compared to previous attempts to “saddle” LiveJournal and Facebook, the channels in the messenger were created by propagandists and security officials supporting the policy of the authorities. Telegram founder Pavel Durov recently announced that the number of its users in Russia has already reached 30 million, despite the blocking.

“We positively assess the readiness expressed by the founder of Telegram to counteract terrorism and extremism”, RIA Novosti quoted the Roskomnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications ) as saying that it had removed the requirements to limit access to the messenger. At the same time, Telegram was blocked in 2018 for refusing to provide the FSB with decryption keys for messages. Pavel Durov then said that this is also impossible to do technically, because the encryption of each message is individual and there are no common keys.

Roskomnadzor conducted the most active fight against Telegram in 2018, immediately after the court decision. During it, then many millions of IP addresses were blocked, which did not help to achieve a result, but sometimes led to malfunctions of other important services.

"If the court makes a decision, it must be enforced. And if this decision is not enforceable, then it must be corrected", - State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin commented on the Telegram situation with gazeta.ru.
