"Glazyev's Index": what is behind the news about the burnt out of his wife's Rolls-Royce

The emergence of such news, regardless of whether it is real or fictitious, testifies to the growing chasm between rich and poor Russians and the hatred of the former towards the latter.

Social networks continue to discuss yesterday's news, which was reported by the "From mash on the wave" channel. According to the channel, a Rolls-Royce Cullinan car, owned by the wife of the famous Russian economist Sergey Glazyev, burned down near Sevastopol.

The incident took place on the night of August 14. Glazyev's wife, Oksana, was in an apartment near the village of Laspi. According to the police, an unknown young man just walked up to the car, put a canister on it and set it on fire. Oksana Glazieva immediately called where she should, but it was too late to save the luxury SUV, it burned to the ground. The police opened a case under the article "willful destruction of property", which provides for imprisonment for up to 5 years.

Bloggers were heartily happy about this news, since Glazyev enjoys a very controversial reputation.

So analyst Olga Bulgakova writes: “An unknown Ukrainian saboteur, almost certainly. Or the holder of dollars, whom Glazyev got with his squeals about the ban on currency..."

Political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky suggests: “What if Rollce-Royce was presented by a lover? And S. Yu. Glazyev himself, transparent through and through and not at all corrupt, just decided to take revenge? "

Journalist Kirill Shulika puts forward a different version: “He is uncomfortable in front of his wife. He said that he bought for 45 million, but it turns out that only 31 million. So the spouse asks where the academician economist of affairs is the rest of the money..."

However, the ex-adviser to the President of Russia (now the Minister of the AEC) - Glazyev decided to sue the Crimean telegram-branch of the popular channel "Mash" for a post already reprinted by several federal media about the (allegedly) burnt Rolls-Royce Culinan (31 million rubles) of his wife near Sevastopol.

Here is what Glazyev himself writes in his channel:

“Slanderers from the Crimean News Service wrote that the attackers burned my wife’s incredibly expensive car. My wife doesn't have such a car. We are initiating a lawsuit against these slanderers in accordance with the new law on libel from the media side.

The primary source of this malicious lie is a certain channel "From mash on the wave", in respect of which we are also filing a lawsuit with the prosecutor's office in accordance with the new law on libelous media..."

However, whether Glazyev's wife had a super-expensive car, or not, is not important. Another thing is important: the very possibility of believing that it was. This is the best evidence of the degree of stratification of Russian society, even if economists, moreover with a left-leaning bias such as Glazyev, are considered by public opinion to have been undeservedly enriched, and rejoices if part of their wealth becomes ashes.

Public opinion is indignant: while the wives of the Glazyevs are driving around in super-expensive cars, which the average Russian will not be able to earn to buy even after 100 years of continuous work, the real incomes of Russians have not been growing for 10 years. Research by Vedomosti showed that the purchasing power of Russians in the first half of the year fell in 64 regions of Russia. The average cost of products for cooking borscht by July 2021 increased to 314 rubles, which is 13% higher than at the beginning of the year. Russians' incomes grew much more slowly. And we are talking about real income, that is, income minus expenses.

It is also reported that one of the main complaints of Russians today is a complaint about expensive food. And the problem is not at all in the rise in prices for food, but in the low incomes of the population, some of which are also consumed by the growing taxes - now they make up about 15% of income in percentage terms, and 10 years ago they were 13-14%. To this should be added and 11.5% for housing and communal services and fuel.

That is, 13% of the country's population today has money only for food, and another 50% - only for food and clothing. And only 30% feel more or less confident...

And at the same time, some 500 "super-rich" Russians own 40% of all financial assets of Russians, which in recalculation will amount to $ 640 billion. According to this indicator, Russia has outstripped all the developed countries of the world. The Glazyevs, with their Rolls-Royces or even ordinary Mercedes, serve these 500 people with all their might, and at the same time shake the air with ridiculous statements that it is necessary to ban the dollar or even to bomb Kiev.

The emergence of news about the "Rolls-Royce of Glazyev's wife" testifies not only to the growing chasm between the poor and the rich in Russia, but also to the growing hatred of the former towards the latter.
