The leader of the faction "Fair Russia - For the Truth" Sergei Mironov announced the prepared bill, according to which it is proposed to make the Day of the Russian Language an official holiday. The document was sent to the government of the Russian Federation.

The initiative is extremely important at the present time, Mironov is sure, because now we see that in other countries people are forbidden to speak Russian.

"In Europe and in a number of other countries they are simply persecuted", - stated the politician.

It's worth reminding that the Russian Language Day was established in 2010 by the UN. It is celebrated on June 6 - the birthday of the poet Alexander Pushkin. In 2011, this day became a public holiday.
