Do not let anyone out, especially the ones with sugar! Getting out of Russia is getting harder

“On the way out of Russia, I learned two amazing news.

1. The border guard announced to me that it was forbidden to leave the country. Except in exceptional cases. You can visit relatives, but show proof of kinship and a return ticket.
2. The customs officer was not interested in whether I was carrying cultural property. He asked if I was taking sugar out of the country. At first I thought I misheard and asked again. He repeated: sugar. Then I thought that it was probably slang that they call hexogen that way. But no: he meant sugar. White, you know? Sweet. Sahara exit from the country is prohibited without any exceptions. And why is it so?

By the way, I criminally took two packages of macaroons out of the country. They definitely have sugar in them".

If the problem of exporting sugar is almost certainly the initiative of border guards, then the first point raises serious suspicions that Russia will revive the so-called "exit visas" that were mandatory in the Soviet Union, and obtaining them was a serious quest.

Experts consider the introduction of exit visas the "most viable initiative" of recent times. So far, in order to leave the country, the Russians do not need such a document, however, according to many signs, the country's authorities are actively discussing this idea. In all likelihood, in the near future, Russians who decide to go abroad will face such an unpleasant and labor-intensive procedure as collecting documents for obtaining an exit visa. According to experts, a draft law has already been developed, which provides the following list of documents required for crossing the border:

- Certificate of income from the place of work;

- Medical certificates from the dermatovenerological psychiatric dispensaries;

- A document on the absence of a criminal record;

- Certificate of absence of debts;

- Certificate of payment for utilities.
