The head of the Department for Monitoring, Analysis and Strategic Development of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Yegenia Kotova, indicated that the country's healthcare system is returning to "a planned dock-like mode of operation". However, the risk of new waves of COVID-19 cases still exists.

“Today, the epidemiological situation is changing: restrictions have been lifted, the flow of patients with acute infectious diseases to beds, to polyclinics has decreased,” TASS quotes Kotova as saying.

As the head of the department pointed out, “covid has receded,” but simply returning to a pre-covid lifestyle is “impossible and wrong.” Earlier, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation warned that in June this year there is a possibility of an outbreak of coronavirus infection in the country due to the weakening of herd immunity.

In mid-May, research began on a vaccine against COVID-19 based on virus-like particles.
