Moscow Region minister accused of selling timber to China for 4 billion rubles

According to Kommersant, together with Kurakin, ex-head of FGAU Oboronles Vladislav Kholodkov and former head of the Maltinsky military forestry company Maxim An were detained in the case.

The crimes of which he and his accomplices are suspected were committed during the period when Kurakin headed the Department of Property Relations (DIO / DPR) of the Ministry of Defense.

All three are charged with large-scale fraud, as well as abuse of office and taking bribes.

Investigators insist on the version according to which Kurakin, An and Kholodkov organized a large-scale deforestation on the territory of military units, after which it was sold to the PRC. The RF IC believes that the damage amounted to 4 billion rubles.

The investigation considers Kurakin to be the organizer of criminal schemes. The UK is confident that he began to approve of mass deforestation under the guise of sanitary in the Western Military District in 2014. For bribes, investigators point out, the forest was cut down in the interests of the capital and Moscow region businessmen, who later set up landfills on this territory.
