According to Kommersant, citing a source in the Moscow mayor's office, the owners of the shopping center are obliged to fulfill the order of the authorities to connect cameras at the entrances to the citizens' identification system until October 20.

The purpose of the demand is to strengthen monitoring of observance of the mask regime in the capital. With the help of access to cameras, the authorities will observe in real time which stores are allowing visitors without masks. As a result of video monitoring, the work of such shopping centers will be stopped.

The connection of the shopping center to the face recognition system at the unified data storage center (UDSC) of the mayor's office began last year. Then about half of the 600 metropolitan shopping centers managed to connect. Now the authorities are demanding similar actions from all other complexes in order to strengthen control over the observance of anti-epidemic measures.

On average, one shopping center has about 5-6 cameras. Taking this into account, about 300 more shopping centers will be connected to the UDSC, we are talking about connecting 1.5-1.8 thousand cameras. In total, the Moscow video surveillance system includes more than 206 thousand cameras.

The total connection to a unified surveillance system of cameras installed in the metro, public places and in the entrances of the capital's houses began in 2019. The police said that this step helped them to facilitate the search and capture of many criminals and solve crimes.

With the onset of the fourth wave of coronavirus, cameras were assigned an additional function to track violators of the mask mode.

The first results of such work became known on the example of the metro and other types of transport: thousands of caught violators received fines, the amount of which is 5 thousand rubles. In the subway, they are fined not only for those who are absent, but also for the masks that are lowered, which do not cover the nose or mouth.
