The head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev, announced on October 20 that the Minister of Health of the region, Elena Borisova, was relieved of her post. Although the resignation is officially associated with a transfer to another job, it is taking place against the backdrop of a worsening epidemiological situation.
AsNikolaev said in his telegram channel, the chief physician of the Yakutsk Republican Oncological Dispensary Lena Afanasyeva was appointed as the acting head of the Ministry of Health.
As of October 20, 276 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Yakutia. The total number of confirmed cases in the republic is 58694. 1356 people died from the disease.
