The Ministry of Construction was offered to establish the service life of residential buildings

The Consumers' Union points out that, according to the current regulation, the service life of residential houses of mass construction is at least fifty years, Izvestia reports. However, buyers need to know the actual lifespan of a building, as they need to have an idea of how long it will be possible to live in before it is considered an emergency.

According to the head of the Union of Consumers, Petr Shelits, young people who have moved into a new apartment and who have to pay their mortgage for 20 years run the risk of being homeless already at retirement age.

However, according to the vice-president of Opora Rossii, Evgeny Shlemenkov, the appearance of a “statute of limitations” for residential buildings will not lead to anything good. On the contrary, the new measure will add bureaucracy, the expert said.

“From my point of view, this is a pointless thing. It will cause the appearance of requirements that must be met. Another standard that will force builders to go through some kind of procedure, - said Shlemenkov in an interview with Sputnik radio.

He also noted that the service life of industrial prefab houses is already being used.

- These industrial buildings and their service life have already been marked. Design brick and frame monolithic houses are individual. There, the service life is so long that if you buy new housing in this market segment, it will live longer than you. There, 100 years or more, - promised Shlemenkov.

Earlier, the Ministry of Construction and the relevant State Duma committee on housing policy and housing and communal services approved a bill, according to which regional and municipal officials must inform citizens about the status of apartment buildings before they are going to buy an apartment in them.

Note that under the renovation program Muscovites are being relocated to emergency housing. At the same time, it turns out to be emergency not after a long operation, but almost immediately after delivery. So, in the Northern District, new buildings built under the renovation program could not withstand the ordinary rain.
