The head of Yekaterinburg, Alexander Vysokinsky, wrote a letter of resignation of his own free will. On Monday, he appointed the first deputy governor of the region, Alexei Orlov, as vice-mayor of the city.

The media write that Orlov will become the acting head of the Ural capital.

“I ask you to early terminate the powers of the head of Yekaterinburg in connection with the resignation of your own free will”, - Vysokinsky said in a statement. The text is quoted by RIA Novosti.

Today Vysokinsky is to raise the question of his resignation during a meeting of the city duma.

Let us recall that he took over as the mayor of Yekaterinburg in 2018. Prior to that, he was the deputy head of the region, oversaw the implementation of the Big Yekaterinburg project and interaction with the territories. On November 13, Vysokinsky offered to call elderly doctors from retirement to help fight the spread of coronavirus.

On the eve of Vysokinsky, it was proposed to take the post of first deputy governor of the Sverdlovsk region.
