The Federal Air Transport Agency closed flights from 12 airports in southern Russia due to the "complication of the situation in Ukraine." When can we expect the resumption of flights and what will happen to ticket prices? Comments by Aeroflot and experts.

As you know, the airports of Rostov, Voronezh, Belgorod and the Black Sea resorts of Russia, as well as all airports in Ukraine, have ceased to receive civil aircraft. The restrictions affected the air ports of Rostov, Krasnodar, Anapa, Gelendzhik, Elista, Stavropol, Belgorod, Bryansk, Orel, Kursk, Voronezh and Simferopol.

The press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency "NI" reported that restrictions on the operation of Russian airports will be in effect until 03.45 on March 2. However, this is a preliminary date. It is valid for today. What can change it? In an interview with Sputnik radio, Roman Gusarov, editor-in-chief of the AVIA RU Network portal, explained: “How long will this ( airport closure, - ed. ) last? Of course, everything will depend on the situation (on the territory of Ukraine, - ed.), which is developing rapidly. If By the second of March, everything will be finished, then it’s good. God forbid that this doesn’t last long. Peace would come sooner,” Roman Gusarov said.

The Federal Air Transport Agency explains that they took these measures for the safety of air passengers. "It is unacceptable that civil aircraft could be close to hostilities. This is Russia's area of responsibility. If there are hostilities, then we are obliged to ensure security. In order to fulfill this, these decisions were made ( by the Federal Air Transport Agency, - editors note)", - explained chief editor of the portal AVIA RU Network Roman Gusarov.

The Federal Air Transport Agency did not comment on the change in airfare prices. However, before that, experts predicted an increase in prices for them on domestic flights by the summer of 2022, ATOR reports. However, according to the requirement of the Federal Air Transport Agency, airlines were obliged to report monthly on the cost of travel documents in economy class on routes within the country in order to prevent unreasonable price increases. At the same time, according to experts, the cost of tickets will increase if "the capacity of domestic flights is reduced due to its distribution, including to foreign destinations", that is, if the number of international flights increases, the executive director of the Aviaport agency, Oleg Panteleyev, believes.

Novye Izvestia sent inquiries about the prospects for rising prices for air tickets to the press service of Sheremetyevo Airport and Aeroflot, but they declined to answer or comment. Regarding tickets for canceled flights, the Aeroflot press service received the following comment: " Passengers of canceled flights are offered the choice of either a forced refund in full, or the possibility of rebooking tickets for subsequent dates or alternative routes".
