Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin officially fired the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dmitry Ovsyannikov (pictured). Earlier, the head of the department Denis Manturov said that Ovsyannikov would not work in the ministry after the scandal at the Izhevsk airport.

The order to dismiss the deputy minister was published on the Telegram channel of United Russia. The document said that Ovsyannikov was dismissed in connection with the reduction of his post.

He served as deputy head of the department in 2015-2016, then in 2019. Ovsyannikov oversaw the issues of regional industrial development. In the period 2016-2019 he was the governor of Sevastopol, but against the backdrop of criticism from the Secretary General of the United Russia Council, Andrei Turchak, asked the head of state to dismiss him of his own free will.

Recall that on April 5, Dmitry Ovsyannikov tried to fly from Izhevsk to Moscow. At the airport he had to go through the metal detector several times. Airport officials also asked him to provide a printed or electronic boarding pass. The official reacted sharply to the situation. From the administrative protocol it follows that Ovsyannikov swore obscenely, and the mildest of his expressions was "freaking out." The scandalous behavior of the deputy minister was recorded by surveillance cameras. In relation to Ovsyannikov, a protocol was drawn up under Part 2 of Article 20.01 of the Code of Administrative Offenses - “Petty Hooliganism”.
