The active Chikurachki volcano on the island of Paramushir in the Great Kuril Ridge threw a column of ash to a height of 4.5 km. The plume spread in a southeasterly direction; no ashfall is observed in Severo-Kurilsk Ina itself in Paramushir.

Also, local residents do not smell hydrogen sulfide, and there is no threat to the lives of citizens, the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Sakhalin specified.

Note that the Chikurachki volcano is one of the most active in the Kuriles. It last erupted in 2008.

Recall that at the end of May, the Kamchatka Bezymyanny volcano threw out a column of ash, the height of which was 5 km above sea level. Rescuers endowed Bezymyanny with an "orange" aviation hazard code.
