The authorities of the Khabarovsk Territory still declared December 31 a non-working day. Acting head of the region, Mikhail Degtyaryov, did this immediately after the recommendation of Russian President Vladimir Putin to declare New Year's Eve non-working throughout the country.

A few hours before Putin's announcement, Degtyaryov called the announcement of the last day of the year a day off as a PR.

"The announcement of December 31 as a day off by some governors, in my opinion, looks like a PR. If I sign the decree, it will only apply to government officials. We do not have the right to declare a day off, this is the authority of the government of the Russian Federation. I do not see the need for PR for December 31", - said Degtyaryov.

However, after the head of state recommended the regions to make December 31 a day off, Degtyaryov changed his decision.

"The President assesses the entire volume of information on the country, he believes that in the current conditions the local authorities can take upon themselves the solution of this issue. And we will do it. December 31 in the Khabarovsk Territory will be a day off", - suddenly announced the acting governor of the Khabarovsk Territory.

Telegram channels have already called Degtyaryov's hasty statement a "false start".

Recall that Degtyaryov, who was appointed to the post of acting head of the region in September, has already become the most unloved governor in the country. Despite the fact that he is a party member of the former governor Sergei Furgal, the residents of the region did not accept the new interim head of the regional government. Note that regular actions in support of the arrested Furgal are still continuing in Khabarovsk. At the same time, citizens are extremely outraged by Degtyaryov's attitude towards the protests, and towards the protesters, and towards Furgal himself. By the way, in the course of his direct line, which took place the day before, the acting governor did not call Sergei Furgal by his first and last name, limiting himself only to the word “predecessor”.

Meanwhile, Internet users sharply criticized Degtyaryov's direct line. According to experts, practically every new step taken by Degtyaryov as interim head of the region becomes a failure.
