From June 1, drivers will be fined for winter tires

“It is simply unsafe to use studded tires in summer, because the braking distance increases and the studs fly out. In addition, it is not economically feasible, because rubber wears out very quickly. It does not play any role, povyletali spikes on winter tires, or still have, because it says winter it or summer", - he said on Radio Sputnik vice-president of the National Automobile Union, member of the Public Council under the State Ministry of Interior of Russia in Moscow Anton Shaparin.

He is convinced that fines for using tires out of season are a fully justified measure, since the condition of the tires directly affects safety.

“Just as studded tires cannot be used in the summer, so it will not be possible to drive non-studded tires. Moreover, the same thing happens in the winter. It is almost impossible to drive a car on summer tires in winter”, - Shaparin said.

The ban on summer tires in winter and on winter tires in summer in Russia is expected to be in effect for three summer months and three winter months. It is possible that car owners who have not changed their winter tires to summer ones will be fined from June 1 this year under Article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The fine for violators will be 500 rubles.
