It has become more difficult to enter Germany: the Germans do not let Russians in without European insurance

As you know, Western sanctions also affected Russian payment systems, so the cards of domestic banks do not work abroad. This inevitably led to the fact that the medical insurance of Russian companies became useless abroad, since they will not be able to physically cover the costs of insured events.

And now, quite expectedly, Russians without European insurance policies are no longer allowed into Europe. Germany was the first such country, but there is no doubt that all other countries will join this. Russian citizens at German airports are still selectively, but they have already begun to require medical insurance issued by European companies. This was told to VPost by managers of Russian travel agencies, whose clients had to deal with new orders.

It should be noted that since the beginning of October 2022, the German Consulate in Russia began to demand from Russian applicants for Schengen visas medical insurance issued by European companies in German or English. Well, then it came to checking their presence when crossing the border.

A particularly unpleasant situation has now arisen for those who applied for their Schengen visa according to the old rules. Of course, they could take out the necessary insurance online right at the border crossing point in order to immediately present it at the checkpoint, but only few people have a European bank card for this, and a Russian one, alas, will not work for this...
