Since the beginning of the pandemic, about a third of Russians have experienced ailments that they could perceive as manifestations of this disease, according to the results of a survey conducted by Insurance Company Rosgosstrakh Zhizn in cooperation with the medical company Invitro.

The respondents were asked to answer the question whether they have experienced ailments since the beginning of the pandemic, which they could regard as manifestations of COVID-19. 24% answered positively. Another 6% said that they are experiencing such ailments now. The respondents were not asked to clarify whether they had visited a doctor for these ailments.

Of the total number of those who experienced or are experiencing ailments that they could regard as manifestations of COVID-19, every second noted that he had problems associated with impairment of attention or memory. 22% have experienced these problems in the past and have fully recovered by the time of participation in the survey, and 32% still experience them.

Of the total number of those who have ever experienced or are now experiencing ailments that they regard as manifestations of COVID-19, more than half (54%) would like to undergo rehabilitation.

Only one in seven (15%) of the total number of survey participants named the risk of contracting COVID-19 as the strongest fear associated with a pandemic. Almost the same number of respondents (14%) fear that their loved ones will get sick. A much smaller number of respondents named as the strongest fear in connection with the pandemic the fear of losing their sense of smell for many months, the fear of problems at work in the event, the fear of being isolated, the fear of persisting difficulties when crossing borders and other fears.

In general, more than a third of respondents (38%) have any fears of a pandemic, the remaining 62% are not afraid of a pandemic. Of the total number of those who do not experience fears in connection with the pandemic, the majority (58%) explained that they had experienced them before, but at some point they got tired of being afraid. One in five is not afraid, because he believes that collective immunity has already been formed in the region of his residence, and one in seven - due to the fact that he was vaccinated. The smallest proportion of respondents who are not afraid of a pandemic explained their lack of fear with disbelief in the danger of coronavirus.
