In Karachay-Cherkessia, a veteran who was left without the help of doctors died because of the coronavirus

The prosecutor's office of Karachay-Cherkessia reports that it was the failure to provide proper medical care that led to the death of the veteran.

“Despite the positive results of the COVID-19 test, the patient did not receive proper medical care, a diagnostic examination was not prescribed, he was not transferred to a medical institution specializing in the treatment of diseases of a new coronavirus infection”, - the supervisory department said.

Instead of being transferred to a specialized department, the elderly patient was sent home. He died on June 5th.

The materials of the inspection carried out by the prosecutor's office were sent to the Investigative Committee - there they will decide on the criminal prosecution under the article on causing death by negligence due to improper performance of their professional duties and the article on refusal of assistance to the patient.

Earlier it was reported that the capital’s ambulance crew refused to help the 88-year-old patient, claiming that the pensioner “had all his lungs burned out".
