Almost a third of Russians began sorting waste and throwing it into different containers (gray for mixed waste and blue for separately collected waste).

Such data follow from a survey commissioned by the Russian Environmental Operator (REO; curator of waste reform). The results are given by RBC.

In this case, 93% of citizens "in the ĭ or less" are aware of how to sort waste. Of these, 55% have only a general idea about it, 38% know it in detail. Only 6% of respondents know nothing at all about how to sort waste. 1% found it difficult to answer this question.

The residents of Chukotka and the Voronezh region are best aware of the separate collection of waste - 100% . Moscow, the Tomsk region and the Amur region are in second place - 99% . Petersburg, Udmurtia, Vologda, Rostov, Samara and Omsk regions are in third place - 98%.

The worst situation is in Chechnya - 76% , as well as in Dagestan - 77% and the Astrakhan region - 83%.

39% of Russians use “declared knowledge” about separate collection and sorting of waste. Of these, 20% sort waste at home into different containers (recyclable materials and mixed waste), 19% sort into different containers, as well as separate fractions of recyclable materials (for example, plastic lids, etc.). 61% do not sort garbage at home, indicating that there are no containers within walking distance where you can throw dry waste containing recyclable materials.

Note that 64% of the participants in the study said that in their place of residence there are containers for different types of waste, which means that many of those who are ready to deal with sorting will still not be able to do this.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko said that among the 13 regions-leaders in the separate collection of waste are Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and Tyumen regions.

At the same time, 90% of Russians declared their readiness to sort garbage. But only 27% of residents have separate containers near their homes.
