The Council of the Moscow Bar Association deprived Alexey Kovrizhkin (pictured) of his legal status, he was the one who represented the interests of one of the former police officers who detained journalist Ivan Golunov.

"The legal status of Alexey Kovrizhkin was terminated for two years", - Interfax quotes the words of a source familiar with the situation.

This information was confirmed by the press service of the Moscow Bar Association.

Kommersant clarifies that the reason for Kovrizhkin's deprivation of his lawyer's status was the secret record of two investigators of the IC of RF and the transfer of a bribe to them. The lawyer of one of the investigators filed a complaint against Kovrizhkin's actions, this information was confirmed by the representative of the Bar Association Yevgenia Motkov.

Let us recall that Kovrizhkin is a key person involved in the case of Ivan Golunov, who held the position of head of the department for combating drug trafficking and strong substances of the drug control department of the Internal Affairs Directorate for ZAO Moscow. Namely, his subordinates - Roman Feofanov, Akbar Sergaliev, Denis Konovalov and Maxim Umetbaev - are involved in the case of Ivan Golunov. They are accused of abuse of office, falsification of the results of operational-search activities and drug trafficking and the commission of a crime by an organized group.

All the defendants in the case, with the exception of Konovalov, who pleaded guilty, are in jail.

Let us recall that the trial of the former policemen was proposed to be closed. Kovrizhkin had previously stated that the process would be closed, since there "are volumes with classified information containing state secrets". Earlier it was reported that the family of Igor Lyakhovets paid lawyers for other defendants in the case, including Konovalov.
