Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law on a new methodology for calculating the minimum wage (minimum wage) and the subsistence minimum (PM). The changes will take effect on January 1, 2021.

The corresponding document is published on the official website of legal information. By the second reading, amendments were made to the text that do not allow the minimum wage to decrease even if the median salary is reduced.

Recall that in 2021 the minimum wage will be 12,792 rubles, which is 5.5% higher than the current figure, 12,130 rubles. The value of subsistence minimum per capita in the new year, taking into account the new methodology, will amount to 11,653 rubles.

The text of the law explains that the median income is the average amount relative to which the income of one half of the population of Russia is less, and the other is more. This value will be recalculated annually. PI is the amount legally considered the minimum necessary for life. It is set every year on July 1 and is based on the median income for the previous year.

The document clarified that the ratio of the subsistence minimum and the median income for the previous year from 2021 is set at 44.2%. This value will also be revised - at least once every five years.

Recall that the first reading by the State Duma of the law on a new methodology for calculating the minimum wage and PM was held on November 11.

Note that the Ministry of Labor pointed to an underestimation of the minimum wage in more than 60 Russian regions. In addition, in the Department of Social and Labor Relations and Social Partnership of the FNPR apparatus, they made their calculations of the cost of the food set, based on the rational norms of food consumption approved by the order of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The volume of consumption of products included in the current consumer basket of the PM was called by the trade unions not corresponding to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, and the minimum itself - underestimated and not meeting modern requirements for healthy nutrition.

Earlier, in October, the leader of the Fair Russia party, Sergei Mironov, called for an urgent increase in the minimum wage to acceptable values - 50 thousand rubles.
