The Omsk interdistrict environmental prosecutor instructed the Siberian Department of Rospotrebnadzor to check the facts of a 15-fold excess of hydrogen sulfide emissions in the city.

- On July 29, 2020 in Omsk, based on the results of the analysis of atmospheric air sampling carried out by the laboratory of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Omsk Region, facts of exceeding the maximum permissible emissions of hydrogen sulfide by 1.13 times and 14.88 times in the area of the North-West industrial hub were revealed, - is indicated in the message of the Omsk Region Prosecutor's Office.

An order was sent to the Siberian Interregional Directorate of Rosprirodnadzor to check compliance with legislation on the protection of atmospheric air and identify the culprits.

The prosecutor's office took control of the inspection.

Note that in 2019 only 59% of Omsk residents called the city bad ecology.

Earlier it was reported that 44 cases of high air pollution were recorded in Russia in the first quarter of this year, which is 57% more than a year earlier. This figure is a record for five years. Despite the fact that in the period from April to June the country had a self-isolation regime, and significantly fewer cars left the roads in all Russian cities.

In 2019, there were 61 cases of high air pollution and two extremely high.
