People will not be allowed to enter Red Square on New Year's Eve

In particular, in order to ensure compliance with the restrictions due to the prevalence of coronavirus infection, to implement preventive measures and exclude significant crowds of people after 18:00 on December 31, 2020, citizens' access to Red Square will be terminated, the Interfax news agency reported. The GUM Skating Rink, located on Red Square, will be open on December 31 until 19:00. On December 31, skating rinks on the territory of Moscow parks will close their work at 22:00, and on January 1, 2021, they will resume work according to the approved schedule - from 10:00. Visiting the ice rinks will only be possible with tickets purchased online. To prevent the spread of infection, ordinary cash desks will not work.

Meanwhile, celebrating the New Year on the main square of the country has been a tradition for many Muscovites for decades, and in recent years, even guest workers from Central Asia working in the capital have begun to come here more and more often.

One of the measures to combat the spread of coronavirus involves the closure of cafes, restaurants, nightclubs and other entertainment venues after 23:00. This rule in Moscow will apply during the holiday holidays, as well as directly on December 31 - reminds "Rossiyskaya Gazeta". The capital also has a mask and glove regime in public transport, shops and other crowded places. The townspeople were urged to refrain unnecessarily from visiting them.

Capital parks on New Year's Eve will be open to visitors, but festive festivities with songs and dances in them will be prohibited. To create a feeling of celebration even in difficult conditions, the authorities decided to allow the organization of fireworks in the territory of three city parks: Druzhba Park, Mitino Landscape Park and Izmailovo Estate.

The Department of Regional Security and Anti-Corruption also recalled that in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic on New Year's holidays in Moscow, all city-wide cultural events traditional for the winter holidays in the framework of the celebration of the New Year 2021 and the Nativity of Christ, children's New Year performances were canceled.
