In the match confrontation for the world crown in international draughts, which took place from April 23 to May 3 in Poland, the Russian Tamara Tansykkuzhina (pictured) - the current world champion - was stronger than the Polish contender for the title Natalia Sadovskaya.

Despite the fact that during the match the polka was leading in the score, Tamara Tansykkuzhina managed to close the gap. Before the last game, the athletes came up with a score of 54:54, and on Monday they drew six times in a row - a classic game, three quick games and two blitz games. In another blitz game, the fate of the title was decided.

Tamara Tansykkuzhina performed at the tournament as a neutral athlete. It's worth to note that on April 27, during the match between Tansykkuzhina and Sadovskaya, the Russian flag was removed from the table. According to the President of the Polish draughts Federation Damian Reszka, this had to be done due to threats from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The incident caused a wide public outcry. According to the vice-president of the Federation, Anatoly Shkodin, such actions were impermissible. Reshka apologized for the incident.

It's worth reminding that the victory in the world championship was the seventh for Tamara Tansykkuzhina.
